When J. R. R. Tolkien was 7 years old, J. R. R. Tolkien wrote his first work of fiction, which a “green great Dragon”. Sadly, when his mother corrected him, and told him it was great green dragon, Tolkien was so discouraged that he put away his fledgling work, and didn’t try another attempt to write for many more years.
Wow. This shocked me. J. R. R. Tolkien is known as the author of The Lord of the rings, and the Hobbit, and the Silmarillion, and many more works that I, and many more fans, enjoy reading over and over again. And when this “incident” happened, it could have ended Tolkien’s career as an author.
It would have meant no Middle-earth books, movies, or blogs. Guys, this blog wouldn’t have existed, A tolkienist’s perspective wouldn’t have existed, Middle-earth reflections wouldn’t have existed, and so many other blogs concerning Tolkien and his works or Peter Jackson’s spectacular saga wouldn’t have existed.
And I’m not trying to scare any C. S. Lewis fans who are also Christians, because I don’t know how Tolkien and Lewis met, but if it was writing that brought them together, C. S. Lewis may have stayed and atheist!
If I remember my facts correctly, J. R. R. Tolkien reintroduced Lewis to Christianity. And A pilgrim in Narnia probably wouldn’t have existed gasp
Now, don’t take any of this seriously. I’m pretty sure J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis met some other way, so don’t worry.
Enjoy the rest of your day. And good day, James and Brenton.
James from A tolkienist’s perspective made a new video today! He updated his collection and is showing not only his Tolkien collection, but his C. S. Lewis collection, his Sherlock Holmes collection, and his Harry Potter collection.
I hated the Harry Potter collection because unlike most people, me and my family disapprove of Harry Potter. I forgot why, we just have a ban on it.
But over all, it’s after video, and it’ll introduce you to different books.
All that is good does on glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the first.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall be spring;
Renewed shall blade that was broken:
The crownless again shall be king.
Of all the end credits songs in the middle-earth saga, Gollum’s song still remains my favorite and the most interesting song. When people think about Gollum, they either say, “Eww, that shriveled creature is creepy“, or they just think of him as a shriveled, wicked villain who will kill to get the ring back.
But in my opinion, after you hear this song, you will not think about Gollum the same way.
Where once was light
p class=”content-container lyrics”>
Now darkness falls
Where once was love
Love is no more
Don’t say – goodbye
Don’t say – I didn’t try…
These tears we cry
Are falling rain
For all the lies
You told us
The hurt, the blame
And we will weep
To be so alone
We are lost
We can never go home
So in the end
I will be what I will be
No loyal friend
Was ever there for me
Now we say – goodbye
We say – you didn’t try…
These tears you cry
Have come too late
Take back the lies
The hurt, the blame
And you will weep
When you face the end alone
You are lost
You can never go home
You are lost
You can never go home
It’s June the first now; It’s a sunny day with a chance for me to swim at the pool. And to make things better, Beren and Luthien is being published today! Things couldn’t get any better. Except one thing.
I didn’t buy Beren and Luthien.
“Well, of course you didn’t! You bought it before it was published, right? You’ve been ranting about how you’re going to buy Beren and Luthien nerd re it gets published!”
I know, but I mean I didn’t buy it at all yet. I failed. I’m sorry 😢
I was going too, but I was too distracted in the world of movies (Disney,
generally), that I didn’t remember to buy the book. But I will; In hardcover, on Amazon, and illustrated by Alan Lee. Alan Lee illustrated a couple of Tolkien books. My favorite cover he illustrated was The Children of Húrin. I don’t know why, but I really liked the cover.
Please forgive me. And James, I’ll try to buy your book before it gets published, I’ll try my best. And if I can’t, I will still buy it.
Please forgive me.
Caution, this is another short post. I think; you know what, I don’t know what, depends on what I have to say.*
But one thing’s for certain, this post will be longer than my last short post.
Anyway, I changed my profile name. I thought that, since I have about 9 blogs about completely different stuff (Also, I hope that shows you that I’m balanced), I decided to change my profile settings.
Those who have followed me for a very long time, you are already probably aware that I had already changed my profile name a lot before; It has just been a really long time.
Anyway, I changed it to Andy.
Here are my reasons why:
- I love Toy Story (and most Pixar movies)
- It’s a nickname for me that nobody has probably ever called me in my entire life. Awkward.
- I can’t think of more reasons right now, but I’ll update this post whenever I think of another reason.
Also, should I make my Pixar blog the primary site? Let me know down in the Comments down below, but it’s 98% probably going to be the new primary blog.
Also it’s the summer time! But that’s for another post.
*Heh, what do you know; it’s not actually a short post.
